I began drawing with graphite pencils on the stucco walls of my childhood home in Bassano Del Grappa near Venice in 1945.
Later on, I won a drawing contest and was awarded a scholarship to a renound fashion school in Paris. Working in fashion was very pleasant but not a good fit for my nature.
My passion for painting fuelled my desire to master technique. I studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, learned from Cennino Cennini’s ancient written work and those from the Institut du Patrimoine Artistique de Bruxelles.
I learned to paint at the Museo dell’Accademia in Venice, studying the XVth and XVIth century masters and their secret geometry subtext.
I have worked in several Paris Ateliers, but much prefer the concentration and solitude of my own studio.
I started showing my works in the 80s.
My work is never totally premeditated, just thorough developed.
I find inspiration in nature, the city, the environment, cinema and photography. I observe and record.
Movement, the play of light both day and night, the somptuous air of the forest depth are the chromatic experiences that nourish my imagination.
I strive to free myself of learned habits. I have experienced multiple painting techniques spanning different period. With each blank canvas, I now focus on that knowledge which I need. I want to paint more fluidly, less complicatedly.
I feel close to the impressionist vision, the color studies of the post-impressionist and the expression of mouvement in contemporary German and American painters.
The richness and infinite possibilities of colors are the fuel that sustains my painting work.
